I taught students the "NO PHOTOSHOP”, way of combing multiple images. We used a single frame of film, and made multiple exposures by reloading the shutter without pulling a new frame of film over. They cover 3/8 of the lens take one shot, trick the shutter, then cover the other 3/8, and shoot. Hence, no line appears between the halves that can't be dodged under the enlarger.
