I recently lost my $60.00 Black Rapids strap for a single SLR, so I built this from parts at Home Depot for 12 bucks. The camera rests on your hip until you pull to your eye and shoot, then it slides back to the hip. This works way better than having a beast hanging around your neck for hours. I've even attached a small bag for batteries, memory, and a cleaning cloth. I also use two mounting points to disperse the load and prevent catastrophic clip failure.
